2. Philipp (3) Newinger, b. 5-1-1837 (?) Oberkutzenhausen,
Alsace-Lorraine, Fr. d. 5-21-1910 Tp. Orangeville, Wyo. Co., N.Y. He was
m. 3-18-1861 by Rev. Michael Pfitzinger at the W. Warsaw Immanuel
Evangelical Church to Christina Fisher b. on board ship on the Atlantic
5-24-1841 d. 11-29-1912. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine
Schimmel Fisher. This couple are interred in the Orangeville Center
Cemetery.
Philipp came to America with his parents at the age of seven. His life
time occupation was farming. He united with the West Hill (Warsaw)
Evangelical Church in 1860 and remained a member until death. Funeral
services were held at the Orangeville Presbyterian Church; Rev. F.W.
Schwenk, pastor of the Evangelical Church officiating.
Christina is remembered by many as a maker of very good cheese and
sausage and the family income was supplemented by the sale of these
products. Her cheese business became so extensive that an additional
room was built for this purpose.
Their family consisted of eleven boys and three girls, in addition to
which, this kind hearted couple reared a motherless little girl, Grace
Meade.
Their children: Charles, John, Ed, Sarah, Henry, Emma, Mary, Walter,
William, Albert, Jesse, Robert, Martin and Allen.
